Sending an e-card to someone that you care about is a quick, simple way to start his day off with a smile. It takes almost no effort on your part to find an appropriate message online, but it shows the recipient that you were thinking of him. For Valentine's Day, you can find many free messages online that will make that special person in your life begin the morning with a dose of cheer.

Find a website that allows you to send free cards, such as 123greetings.com. Bluemountain.com charges a subscription, but you can sign up for a free 14 day trial. If you do this, be sure to cancel your subscription within the 14 days if you don't want to be charged.

Search for their selection of Valentine's Day cards by clicking on the link for Valentine's Day or performing a search on the website.

View the cards that look the most promising to you, based on the preferences of the person you are sending the card to. Some people prefer sweet and mushy, while others like the funny cards.

Choose one of the animated cards and enter in the recipient's name, your name and any personal message that you would like to add.

Enter the recipient's email address and click "Send."
