When you think of French braids, you probably envision elaborate hairstyles created with masses of thick, long hair. However, with a little extra effort you can easily create beautiful French braided styles in hair that is bobbed as short as ear-lobe level. Some people even manage to braid pixie and pageboy cuts. In this article, we will discuss how to French braid short hair.
Items you will need
- Hair brush
- Hair spray
- Spray bottle of water
- Small rubber hair bands
Dampen your hair using a spray bottle of water. Wet hair is easier to manage. Do not soak your hair, but do lightly mist your entire head.
Brush your hair thoroughly. This hairstyle needs tangle-free hair.
Separate three sections of hair near your temple. These sections can be on either side of your head, but all three must be next to each other.
Braid the sections together. Each time you bring a section of hair toward the middle, you must add in more hair from further back on the head. This will enable to you make the braid "travel" around your head and prevent you from running out of hair to use in the braid.
Secure the end of the braid with a rubber band. You can stop when you reach the back of your head or bring the braid full circle to the other temple, like a crown.
Spray the hairstyle with hairspray. This will smooth down loose ends and keep the braid in place. If you wish, you can spray the braid intermediately throughout the hair-styling process.
