Your parents are undoubtedly some of the most important people in your life. If they are about to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, show them how much they mean to you by giving them a special gift to commemorate the milestone event. Whether it's a traditional gift or one that is unique to them, they will be touched by your thoughtfulness.

Fine China

The traditional 20th anniversary gift is porcelain china. If your parents already have a china collection, get them a piece that corresponds with it for their anniversary; if they don't have a collection, get them a special piece -- such as a vase or a platter. Personalize the gift by engraving a sweet sentiment and the date of their anniversary. They'll think of you each time they look at their new piece of fine china.

20 Years of Memories

Create a book for your parents compiled with memories from the past 20 years of their marriage. Ask friends and family members to each create a page for the book -- complete with a description of their favorite memory of the couple and a photo. Arrange the pages in a scrapbook and inscribe, "20 Years of Memories" across the cover.

First Date

You've likely heard the story of your parents' first date several times throughout your life. For their 20th anniversary, send them back to the past by recreating their first date. If they dined at a certain restaurant and it's still in business, make reservations for them. If the restaurant is no longer open, make a special dinner for them based on the cuisine they ate on that first date. If they went to the movies, rent the film they saw so they can watch it at home. Try to recreate as many details of that significant date as possible.

Second Honeymoon

Everyone needs to get away sometimes, and a 20th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to do so. Arrange for your parents to have a second honeymoon at the same destination they went to on their original honeymoon. Another option is to arrange for them to go somewhere they have always wanted to go and have never been able to. Create a postcard by printing out a picture of their destination -- Jamaica, Italy, Chile -- and write the details of their gift on the back.

Wedding Day Painting

Have their favorite wedding photo turned into a painting. Hire a professional artist or use a company that specializes in the craft to create the masterpiece. Display it in a decorative frame and unveil the portrait on their anniversary. You can even have an inscription included on the frame, such as, "20 years ago, we became one."
