How to Recognize a Nurse For Nurses Week

National Nurses Week starts on May 6 and ends on International Nurse's Day on May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. While the nurse is likely to appreciate flowers, a dinner or some other token of appreciation, she may get more use of a nurse-specific gift.

Step 1

Give the nurse a gift certificate to a nurse uniform shop. Most nurses wear scrubs and other accessories such as a stethoscope and badge clip. A gift certificate would allow the nurse to pick out something she needs.

Step 2

Buy a subscription to a nursing magazine or a book store. Most nurses need to continue their education and will need exposure to extra literature.

Step 3

Check nurse-specific websites for specialized gear. Some of the items available in 2011 included bags, totes, drink ware, clothing, coolers and notebooks with the week's theme of "Nurses Trusted in Care."
