A beautiful red coat, from deep scarlet to a vibrant candy apple, makes a rich feminine statement the moment you put it on. Luckily, there are a variety of scarf options when you're looking to add warmth and style to your winter look. Choose from a collection of foolproof scarf ideas, based on your personal aesthetic, for a stellar look.
Posh
A red coat provides a luxurious and saturated impact for your outfit. When you're including accessories, avoid allowing your coat to overshadow these pieces by adding an equally saturated scarf for a posh look. Visualize yourself in a red wool, three-quarter-length, double-breasted coat. Leave the collar open and wrap an oversize black scarf loosely around your neck. If you can find a coat with black buttons, even better. Or, if black creates too great of a contrast, look for a red scarf a couple shades deeper than your coat for a sophisticated tonal effect.
Country Chic
For a more laid back take on styling around a red coat, particularly if you're a fan of an Americana vibe, reach out for a plaid scarf in colors that blend with your coat. For example, visualize yourself in a soft red wool, single-breasted coat that falls just above your knees. For a warm take, look for a plaid scarf with hues such as reds, oranges and golds. Or, for a less autumnal vibe, grab a scarf in red, gray and icy blue to add a cool touch to your otherwise hot coat.
Classic
If you are an individual who leans toward a somewhat preppy style, a classic scarf will work wonders with your red coat. Conjure up an image of yourself wearing a red pea coat with brass or silver buttons. Go for a softly hued pattern with your scarf. For example, an oatmeal-and-white, oversize gingham scarf in linen or chenille offers a soft, preppy look. Or, a black-and-white or navy-and-white striped scarf in wool creates strong contrast with a clean, classic appeal.
Edgy
You are already wearing a coat that is sure to draw tons of attention; if you're a fan of admiring onlookers, you might as well go for it with an edgy, high-impact scarf. Perhaps you're wearing a red leather coat that falls to your knees. Keep the interest high with a cheetah-print scarf wrapped closely around your neck. Or, opt for a vibrant red-and-white print, such as polka dots, cherries or abstract flowers for a fashion forward approach to styling a red coat.
