The hippie style was most popular during the 1960s and 1970s , but some people still dress like hippies today. The overall look of a hippie is outside of the norms of society. A hippie often is seen in bell bottom pants, fringed vests, a short skirt, or a mini dress. Hippies are also fond of tie dyed T-shirts and clothing in bright colors. Hippies wear a lot of accessories too. They favor an arm full of bangle bracelets, rings on every finger, and a huge amount of necklaces. The hippie style is the opposite of minimalism; they pile on a lot of layers and accessories for a very creative and unique style.
Wear some bell bottom jeans with a low waist from a thrift store or flea market. Accessorize the jeans by sewing on a peace sign patch and some patches of flowers in bright colors.
Put on bangle bracelets and lots of them. The hippie look typically features women wearing up to 15 bangles on one arm. Also, wear at least 5 rings. The more ornate the rings the better; hippies like very noticeable jewelry.
Wear peace sign jewelry. Hippies like to wear the peace sign in as many places on their body as possible, such as necklaces, rings and as colorful patches. You may even consider a peace sign tattoo party visit to a tattoo shop to bond together a group of hippie friends.
Look for leather fringed vests, mini dresses and short skirts while out shopping. Gather as many hippie clothes as possible to ensure being able to dress as a hippie every day. Rummage sales and garage sales often have vintage clothing from the hippie decades. As elderly people retire and move out of the homes they have had for decades, a treasure trove of original hippie clothing may be found stored in the attic.
Flaunt your love of the hippie era with brightly colored tie dyed clothing that is loose, comfy, and lets everyone who spots you know that you are a free-spirited hippie. Tie-dye clothing such as t-shirts, dresses, skirts, and shorts are very popular with hippies.
