Pantene is a hair-care brand that originated in 1947 and is inspired by the ingredient panthenol. Each of the 22 shampoo formulas is infused with pro-vitamin B5 to help strengthen hair and keep it healthy.
History
Pantene originated in Europe in 1947 and came to the U.S. in 1960. Personal-care brand Procter and Gamble acquired the brand in 1985 and distribution greatly expanded. In 2010 pantene shampoos were reformulated and categorized into fine hair, curly hair, medium to thick hair, color hair and classic care.
Shampoo Formulas
Pantene offers several shampoos within each of their Solutions categories. For example the Color Hair Solutions category features Color Preserve Shine, Color Preserve Smooth and Color Preserve Volume formulas. There is also Nature Fusion that uses naturally-derived ingredients to cleanse, Relaxed & Natural for women of color, and Restore Beautiful Lengths for long hair.
Cost
Pantene shampoos are affordable mass-market formulas and typically retail for around $4.99 for a 12.6 oz. bottle. They are available at drugstores and grocery stores nationwide.
