Taking a spoonful of rice pudding might conjure up memories of your childhood, but you don't need to travel home to enjoy this simple treat. Making rice pudding from scratch combines everyday ingredients, such as rice, milk, sugar and eggs, but you can also buy canned rice pudding. For some variety, sprinkle a small quantity of raisins over your bowl.
Milk Choices Influences Calories
The exact number of calories in your serving of rice pudding depends on how you prepare the dish. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Nutrient Database reports that a 1/2-cup serving of rice pudding prepared with 2 percent milk contains 142 calories. The same amount of rice pudding, but prepared with whole milk, has 155 calories. If you opt for ready-to-eat rice pudding from a can or cup, expect a 1/2-cup serving to contain 99 calories. Adding a 1/2-ounce serving of seedless raisins to your rice pudding adds 42 calories to the dish.
