Raisin bran is a wheat-bran cereal interspersed with raisins. Marketed by a variety of manufacturers, a bowl of raisin bran normally equates to 1 cup of cereal, and is traditionally topped with a half-cup of milk.

Calories in Raisin Bran

A 1-cup serving of raisin bran ranges from 160 to 190 calories, depending on the manufacturer. Variance in calories depends upon the amount of bran, raisins and sugars added.

Raisin bran is low in fat and cholesterol, with an average of 1 g of fat and zero cholesterol. Each 1 cup serving provides 40 g of carbohydrates, they also provide about 300 mg of potassium, 5 g of protein and 7 g of dietary fiber.

Milk

Adding milk to your cereal increases calorie content. A half-cup of nonfat skim milk has 55 calories, while a half-cup of reduced fat milk contains 65 calories.
