Pelican combination locks are recognized by the Transportation Security Administration and are commonly used on suitcases and other pieces of luggage. Pelican combination locks follow the traditional standard method for resetting the combination, making them intuitive to use. You do not have to be an expert mechanic to change the combination. Most locks come with a preset code, which you can change to something memorable to make it less likely you will forget the code.
Turn the number dials to the existing combination. The lock section opens. Lift the shackle out.
Turn the number dials again until the dials read the combination you wish to use. Make a note of this. Check that all of the dials are on the correct numbers. Rotate the shackle and place it back in the hole. Turn the dials to lock it.
Open your padlock by setting the dials to your new combination. If you wish to change your combination again, repeat the process.
