What's your morning skin care routine?

My daily skincare routine is pretty minimal. I wash my face everyday with Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. I don't typically breakout, so this cleanser is great because it doesn't strip my face from my natural oils. I use Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel as my daily moisturizer. The formula is refreshing and cool, and it keeps my skin hydrated without feeling greasy all day. I also really enjoy the fact that the cream is blue for some reason, and it definitely doesn't hurt that it has a nice refreshing scent too. I scraped my last container clean to get every bit of goodness out of it! In addition to my daily routine, I try to use the derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub once every few weeks to give my face a clean start.

What makeup do you normally wear?

After I wash and moisturize my face, I start with a little bit of Urban Decay Naked One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector. It has SPF 20, and has just enough coverage to naturally even my skin tone. I then use L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR pressed powder to finish my sheer coverage. I dust a little Mac Powder Blush in Buff on my cheeks and and then swipe my favorite mascara across my lashes and I'm good to go!

I really love the L'Oréal Voluminous Original Volume Building Mascara. This is by far my favorite go to mascara — I buy it on repeat! The brush is full and lush which helps me achieve a natural full lash, and this formula never flakes on me. If I'm going out and have more time to get ready, I'll use liquid eyeliner and matte eyeshadows to create a night time look.

For my lips I typically wear Burt's Bees chapsticks, but if I'm looking for color I'll go with Mac lipstick in Syrup. And before I leave the house, I always make sure to spritz on some perfume. Right now, I switch between Flowerbomb, See By Chloé Si Belle, Daisy Eau So Fresh, and Live Colorfully by Kate Spade, depending on my mood and the occasion.

How do you get such gorgeous hair?

I wash my hair every 3 to 4 days, with L'Oreal EverCurl Sulfate-Free Curl Care System shampoo and conditioner. I usually curl it with a 1.25 inch curling iron, but recently I've been letting it air dry with my natural curl so I'm not always exposing my hair to heat. On days I don't wash my hair, I use Batiste dry shampoo to refresh my scalp and add volume. But out of all of my hair habits, I think my best trick is to put my hair up in a loose bun with an old-fashioned scrunchie (yes, just like the ones we all had back in the 90s) when I sleep! I like to do this because: 1) It doesn't leave dents in my hair like other hair ties, 2) It keeps my hair from tangling (and out of my husband's face) while I sleep, and 3) It leaves me with ready-to-go hair in the morning. I swear my curls look better after a night with my scrunchie.

Do you have a DIY treatment you love?

Any time I feel like I'm about to breakout, I make a cinnamon honey paste and use it as a spot treatment for my blemish. I leave it on for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off. This is my go to every time, and it actually works!

Can you tell us a little bit about your job?

I'm an engineer at Medtronic, a medical device company. I work in R&D developing new products and devices for people who have diabetes. My job can be stressful at times, but hearing patient testimonials about how our products have changed their lives for the better reinforces why I love what I do.

Do you have any advice for aspiring bio-engineers?

There were so many times in college that I just wanted to call it quits and pick another major, but I am so glad I stuck with it. Although it wasn't easy getting where I am today, being an engineer is challenging, rewarding, and allows me to work toward something meaningful that helps others live their lives every day. If engineering is truly your passion, stick with it. I promise it gets better!

How do you destress after a long day?

At the end of the day, I enjoy practicing yoga with my husband. We try to go 3 to 4 times a week, either before or after work. I really enjoy going to class because it grounds me. Yoga reminds me to take the time to breathe and reflect on the blessings in my life. If I'm looking to be more lazy and less active, painting my nails with a side of Friends on Netflix helps me unwind. My favorite go-to polish right now is Marshmallow by Essie, it's the perfect neutral. :)

What's your evening skin care regimen?

I'm a big fan of micellar water lately. I discovered it earlier this year, and I'm already on my second bottle of Garnier's SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. I use it to refresh my face after a workout, or to take my makeup off at the end of the day. I like it because it's gentle on my skin, and I don't feel like I have residue on my face after I use it. I recently just added the Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream into my routine to make sure my skin is moisturized even while I sleep. I'm still new to this, but I think it has improved my skin condition when I wake up in the morning. Although I have this "routine," I'm notorious for falling asleep on the couch some nights, and will climb into bed with my makeup on, but I'm trying to get rid of this bad habit!

What's one thing you do every day that makes you feel great?

At the beginning of my day right after I wake up, I set an intention for myself. It could be silly or serious, but either way it helps me focus and get ready for what's ahead of me that day.

When do you feel most comfortable in your own skin?

I feel the most comfortable in a pair of comfy sweatpants, my hair in a messy bun, and cuddling up to my husband on our couch. I like to keep it simple. :)

How would you describe your approach to beauty?

I love getting dolled up for a night out, but most days I'm a no-fuss type of girl. I'm a huge fan of Target, so if I can find beauty products that work for me during a Target run, I'm all for it. I also love deals, so I'm constantly on the hunt for value beauty dupes. If I can spend less on makeup and skin care and get the same results, sign me up!
