How to Get Rid of Minor Skin Irritations Around the Face

The skin on your face is exposed to sun, wind, allergens and oils every day. Any of these environmental factors can irritate sensitive skin. Contact with your jewelry, cosmetics and fingers doesn't help, either. To sooth irritated skin and eliminate mild rashes and redness, keep your face clean, moisturized and as free of irritants as possible. Treat your skin kindly, and minor dryness and damage will heal quickly. If the irritation persists, consult a dermatologist.

Cleanse your face twice daily with lukewarm water and a face wash specially designed for sensitive or dry skin. Choose products without dyes, scents or alcohol. Avoid anything exfoliating.

Pat your face dry rather than rubbing it. Abrasive motions can damage your skin further.

Apply a moisturizer while your face is still slightly damp. Choose a moisturize designed for dry or irritated skin. Again, avoid products with dyes, perfumes or alcohol.

Wrap raw oatmeal in a washcloth and soak it in cool water for several minutes. Between face washes, apply the washcloth to the irritated areas for five minutes. Remove the washcloth and dab aloe vera cream onto the rash.

Refrain from scratching or picking at irritations. Remove jewelry, hats or scarves that rub against the rashes.
