If you suffer from dry, cracked or burning skin, you might try applying store-bought lotions and creams to try to soften and soothe your skin. However, many lotions and creams contain additives, such as perfumes and fillers, which can irritate skin that is broken or burned. One solution is to use a moisturizer that is gel-based, and contains aloe vera gel that can soothe irritated skin. You can make your own gel moisturizer out of basic materials.
Place 2 oz. of beeswax into the top of a double boiler, and fill the bottom of the double boiler with water. Heat the double boiler over high heat until the beeswax melts.
Pour 4 oz. of olive oil into a pot, and heat it over medium heat for five minutes.
Pour the oil and the beeswax into a blender, and add in 8 oz. of aloe vera gel. Blend the substances together for 20 seconds. This will make the gel moisturizer light and whipped.
Add in 1/4 tsp. of essential oil, any fragrance that you prefer. Blend the mixture for an additional 20 seconds.
Pour the gel moisturizer into a glass jar, and allow it to cool for two hours. Screw on the lid tightly, then store it in a refrigerator for up to six months.
