Agua fresca, a refreshing drink made by blending fresh fruit with water and sugar, is quite popular throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Put a new spin on this traditional beverage by adding extra layers of flavor with ingredients such as ginger or mint. Choose a combination you like and make a drink that suits your taste. Bottoms up!
Add the Ingredients to a Blender
Place the pineapple pieces, peeled ginger, sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water into a blender. Blend everything together until smooth.

Strain the Contents
Use a fine mesh sieve to strain the mixture into a medium bowl.

Add Water and Sugar
Add the remaining 2 cups of water, stir and taste. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add more sugar.

Store in the Refrigerator
Pour the agua fresca into a container, and store in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve.
