Online dating websites have grown very popular in recent years. These sites allow individuals to find compatible love interests and establish romantic relationships by meeting online. The concept has gained credence through numerous testimonials proving that online romances can lead to long-term marriages. Two prominent leaders in the online dating business are eHarmony and Match.com. Both offer a variety of methods for creating potential matches and each claims its share of success stories.
eHarmony
Open an eHarmony account by going to the website and completing the preliminary registration form. You will be asked for your first name, gender, relationship preference, zip code, country and email address. eHarmony is one of the top online dating websites and has been in existence since 2000.
Complete a personality questionnaire that will focus on "key dimensions of personality that are scientifically proven to predict happier, healthier long-term relationships." This will allow you to access a list of women who are compatible with your personality. The questionnaire will take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Read the "About Me" information for each match you receive after answering the questionnaire. This is the first step in a four-stage process that will allow you to learn more about these women. You will not know a woman's identity until she is ready and comfortable enough to reveal it.
Ask each of your matches five questions about her personality. Your questions should be simple but informative. An example question suggested by eHarmony is: "If you were taken by your date to a party where you knew no one, how would you respond?"
Send an email using eHarmony Mail to your matches with a list of "must haves" and "can't stands" which reveal what you are looking for in a relationship. Examples suggested by eHarmony include: "I must feel deeply in love and attracted to my partner" and "I can't stand someone who is belittling or hateful to people."
Ask your matches three open-ended questions. They can explore any topic you wish. You can choose your own questions or select from a list that eHarmony provides. This is the last stage of communication eHarmony requires and you will then gain unlimited access to eHarmony Mail. You will be able to chat online with the person you choose to make your girlfriend.
Match.com
Open an account at Match.com by accessing their website and clicking on the "Join for Free" option. You will be asked to provide your email address, date of birth, country, zip code and relationship preference. Match.com is one of the oldest online matchmaking services. The website was created in April 1995.
Build a creative profile that will attract favorable attention from prospective girlfriends. Include your interests, hobbies and personality as well as the qualities and traits you are looking for in a partner.
Choose a photo that is flattering but accurately depicts you. Don't use a far-away shot; you want the person to know what you look like. Don't be afraid to use a close-up shot.
Perform a search for compatible women on the Match.com site or simply wait for women to start contacting you. Match.com's search database will allow members to view potential matches through a selected preferences search. If you find a profile interesting, send the person an email. The email should inform the woman why you chose to contact her and ask a few questions about her personality.
Engage in active communication if the person you are interested in seems to be compatible. Get to know one another by chatting online. This could be the start of an lasting relationship.
