In an increasingly connected world, it's easier than ever to connect with singles 65 and up, as about two-thirds of seniors in the U.S. use the Internet and more than 40 percent have smartphones in their pockets, according to Pew Research data from 2017. Whatever your age, safety always comes first; get to know your match by chatting on the phone or making a few video calls before agreeing to meet in person, and always set arranging the first date only in a public place. Because many dating services and apps require fees to to access their full suite of features, make sure to carefully read the terms of service before signing up. Most importantly, remember that you're never too old to meet your match.
OurTime
Available via your browser or as an app for your Android or iOS device, OurTime is a dating platform exclusive to the over-50 crowd. Once you set up a profile, the interface is simple, presenting you with large photos and a bit of info and allowing you to swipe left (for "no thanks") or right (for "yes, please") on potential matches, much like Tinder. OurTime is free to browse, but you'll have to pay a fee to take advantage of all of its communication features. Once you're up and running, the service boasts that you can potentially connect with more than 50 seniors in just two minutes.
Senior FriendFinder
While OurTime focuses on a simple interface, Senior FriendFinder goes a bit more in-depth with its search options. Catered to users over the age of 60, SFF prides itself on accessible customer service and security, and includes chat, instant messaging and an online magazine section to which members upload their own articles. The free, Facebook-compatible version allows you to browse up to 10 profiles a day and take advantage of the chat service, but you'll have to sign up for a paid membership to access all of your potential match's pictures.
SilverSingles
SilverSingles, a dating site exclusively for those 50 and older, uses an extensive personality test to match you with compatible senior singles in your area, sending you new matches every single day. With about 250,000 members, this site focuses squarely on finding long-term love and companionship. Full membership costs start at $9.99 per month.
More Communities
If you're seeking an over-65 woman of a particular faith or ethnicity, the Internet has no shortage of senior dating sites designed for specific communities. ChristianSeniors.com, for instance, is a 100-percent free-to-use dating site for those 50 and over who share the Christian faith. And as the name implies, SeniorBlackPeopleMeet.com serves African-American singles in the over-65 crowd.
