Dark circles around the eyes can be the result of aging, sun exposure, excessive eye rubbing or even genetics. No matter what the cause, you’re probably sick of hearing people say, “Gosh, you look tired,” when you’re actually perfectly well-rested. There are tons of creams and serums that claim to help reduce the appearance of under eye circles, but these products come with a hefty price tag. Try a homemade facial to help get rid of the dark circles without going broke in the process.
Grate about 1/4 of a cucumber with a cheese grater into a bowl. Mix the cucumber with equal parts carrot juice. Stir with a spoon. Dab the mixture onto the dark circles using a cotton ball. Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.
Place 1/2 cup fresh parsley and 2 tablespoons plain yogurt into a food processor. Blend the ingredients until they form a paste. Smooth the mixture onto the dark circles with a cotton ball. Wait 20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Steep two tea bags -- of the caffeinated kind -- in a cup of hot water for about 10 minutes. Take the tea bags out of the water and squeeze them gently to remove the excess liquid. Chill the tea bags in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. Lie down and place one tea bag over each eye, leaving the bags on for 10 minutes.
Grate up a small peeled potato with a cheese grater. Place the grated potato into two pieces of cheesecloth. Lay the cheesecloth on your eyes for 15 to 20 minutes. Wipe your eyes with a damp cloth to remove any residue.
Grate up about 1/4 of a cucumber. Mix the grated cucumber with equal parts milk. Place the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill. Dab the mixture onto your under-eye area with a cotton ball. Wait 20 minutes, then rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
