Puffy bags under the eyes may become a common cosmetic problem due to the aging process or heredity. Other causative factors include fluid retention, insomnia, stress, allergies or excessive exposure to the sun, according to CNN Health. Treating the cause, such as getting more sleep and reducing stress, is the first step in treatment. In addition there are some common household items in the kitchen that may be useful in treating this condition.
Cucumber Slices

With its 90 percent water content; chilled cucumber slices are natural cooling agents that may help to reduce puffiness under the eyes, according to Sharon Hopkins, of Disabled World website. Place a chilled cucumber slice on each eye, leave them on for 20 minutes then lay back, relax and enjoy their cool, soothing, refreshing effects. Cucumber slices usually reduce swelling, redness and puffiness.
Tea Bags

Tea bags are commonly used to treat bags and puffiness under the eyes. Tannin, an active ingredient in tea, is a powerful astringent. Tannin works to tighten pores and draw liquid out of the skin allowing the skin to contract, according to Whole Living. Applying a cold, moistened tea bag to each eye for 15 minutes, will increase circulation around the eyes, relax, refresh, soothe and reduce puffiness under the eyes.
Egg White

Egg white is an astringent that acts to tighten, tone and reduce puffiness under the eyes, according to Kate Somerville's book "Complexion Perfection!" Egg white also reduces inflammation, improves circulation and benefits puffiness under the eyes. Apply 1/2 teaspoon of egg white under the eyes with your fingers, allow it to dry for about 15 minutes then rinse well with warm water. Wash your hands with soap and water. The effects of the egg white should reduce the puffiness and improve the overall appearance of the skin under the eyes.
