Cheese bagels combine the crispy-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside texture of a bagel with the sharp flavor of cheese. While many commercial recipes use asiago cheese, homemade and mini bagels often use mozzarella, cheddar, jack or a combination of cheeses. The results yield bagels with different tastes and overall nutrition.

While the exact nutrition of each bagel will vary depending on the recipe used and the size of the bagel, in general, the total calories in a cheese bagel ranges from about 290 to 330. Mini cheese bagels contain slightly less, with about 200 calories for 4 mini bagels. Homemade bagels made with 1 cup of cheddar cheese, 3 cups flour, 3 tbsp. brown sugar, yeast, salt and water contain about 200 calories.

Cheese bagels contain about 55 g of carbohydrates. About 3 to 5 g of carbohydrates are from sugar, very little comes from fiber. Mini cheese bagels contain about 29 g of carbohydrates, 3 g from sugar, and about 2 g from fiber.

The total number of calories due to fat in a cheese bagel will vary with the amount of cheese used in the recipe. Typically, 50 to 60 calories, or about 15 to 18 percent of the total calories, comes from fat. Mini bagels contain more cheese per bagel, resulting in 25 percent of the calories coming from fat.
