If you struggle to say those three little words, "I love you,” you're not alone. Many people feel awkward expressing their feelings vocally. Perhaps it is still early in your relationship and you yet don't have the courage to declare your love for your guy. Fortunately, it's possible to make him feel adored through actions rather than words. Think about how you would want to be treated by the one you love, and try to treat him the same way.
Be tactile. Hold your loved one's hand, both at home and in public. Grab him for a hug for no particular reason. Snuggle up on the sofa while watching a movie. Cuddle and kiss before going to sleep. Run your fingers through his hair, smell his cologne, twirl your fingers around his earlobes.
Make time for your guy. Plan regular dates and stick to them, even if you are both busy with work, friends and other commitments. Commit to sharing activities regularly, such as cooking, working out, gardening and traveling. This is one of the keys to long-term relationship success, says life coach Preston Ni, in the Psychology Today article, "7 Keys to Long-Term Relationship Success."
Cook your man's favorite meal. Surprise him after a busy day at college or work with a tasty dinner. Create a romantic setting with a nice tablecloth, flowers and candles. Stick to a simple starter like prawn cocktail or try something new like Jamie Oliver's "Easiest, Sexiest Salad in the World." Follow this with a tasty steak if your guy is a meat lover, or a simple pasta dish flavored with fresh herbs. And chocolate, of course, is the world’s most romantic flavor. Try a chocolate tart or fondue. Remember the champagne or wine to help you both relax and enjoy your intimate meal together.
Take care of something you know your guy hates doing, such as ironing his shirts. Do it without him asking you and he will know how much you care about him, says psychotherapist Barton Goldsmith, Ph.D., in the Psychology Today article,"10 Ways to Say I Love You Without Saying I Love You."
Look after your man when he's feeling ill. Make sure he has medicine, plenty of fluids and everything else he needs to recover. Keep him company until he's feeling better to show him you are willing to take the rough with the smooth.
Listen to your guy when he's stressed. Give him a shoulder to cry on when he's upset. Being a good listener is one of the most effective ways to show love.
Compliment your guy. Tell him you love his muscly arms, like the way he dresses, can't get enough of his jokes -- anything. As long as it's heartfelt, it will boost his confidence and make him feel really special.
Create a CD or playlist of long songs, suggests Cosmopolitan. Include songs that are meaningful to both of you. Slip it into a pile of papers on his desk for him to find by surprise.
Support your guy in all his endeavors. Accompany him to a boring work do. Cheer him on from the sidelines of the football pitch. Take the time to get involved in his interests and he will know you really care about him.
