Packaged cornbread mix makes a tasty side dish with just a little effort. It’s the perfect partner for ribs, chili and grilled meats. You can change up the basic recipe with the addition of sour cream, which gives cornbread a tangy kick while ensuring a moist texture every time. If you like, you can update the plain cornbread even more by adding a handful of corn kernels, chopped peppers, grated cheese or diced green onions.
Add cornbread mix, egg and milk to a large bowl according to package directions. Add sour cream and mix until thoroughly combined.
Pour cornbread batter into a greased muffin tin or loaf pan.
Bake according to package directions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cornbread to cool for five minutes before slicing and serving.
