How to Make Wilted Spinach With Garlic. Wilted spinach is an easy and delicious side dish. All it requires is a bunch of fresh spinach, some garlic, butter and a saute pan. This recipe serves 4.

Trim the spinach leaves from the stems and discard the stems.

Slice the garlic into slivers as thin as a dime.

Heat a large saute pan over medium heat for 30 seconds.

Add the butter and, when half of it has melted, add the garlic.

Cook, stirring constantly, for about 45 seconds or until the garlic is tender and fragrant.

Add the spinach leaves, and season with salt and pepper.

Use tongs or a spatula to stir the spinach so it cooks evenly.

Remove from heat when all spinach leaves have wilted.


  • Wash the spinach in several changes of very cold water. Keep washing until all traces of sand and dirt are gone. Turn the spinach over as it cooks so cooked leaves closest to the pan are replaced with raw leaves. Be ready for the spinach to lose a great deal of volume as it cooks.
