Many people experience dry skin and use moisturizers to relieve this problem. Dry skin tends to get worse in the winter months because of the drop in relative humidity. The good news is, that dry skin does respond well to external treatments, such as lotions and oils. Try making your own oil with glycerin treatment.

Items you will need

  • Glycerin
  • Rosewater
  • Lemon juice
  • Bottle
Step 1

Measure 1/3 of a cup of glycerin into a bowl. The glycerin will be sticky, so make sure you get it all.

Step 2

Mix 1/3 of a cup of rosewater into the glycerin. This will take a little time, because of the sticky properties of the glycerin.

Step 3

Stir in 1/3 of a cup of lemon juice. The lemon is believed to bring more softening properties to the mixture.

Step 4

Pour the ingredients into a clean bottle and shake gently.

Tips

  • The lemon juice is optional.

Warnings

  • Make a new batch of your glycerin oil every week. The oil does not have preservatives and bacteria can grow in it.

Swelling can indicate an allergic reaction. To test for this, you must place the mixture on a small patch of skin and allow it to remain there for 48 hours.
