Commercial acne and blemish removers contain harsh preservatives and chemicals that can potentially damage your skin. Fortunately, there are natural steps and precautions you can take to help treat and cure blemishes. Taking the right steps to remove and treat blemishes will often yield a better lifestyle because stress, eating habits and hygiene are all leading causes of acne and skin problems. Once you find a natural method that works for your skin, you can begin taking better care of your body.
Clean your face with hot water to open up your pores. To ensure that your pores are all open, boil a pot of water and carefully place your face over the steam coming off the pot for 10 minutes.
Use an exfoliating cleaning pad to remove dead skin. Use the scrubbing pad gently to avoid damaging your skin, and rinse your face with warm water. Dead skin can clog your pores and cause blemishes.
Eat a healthy diet. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water every day to remove harmful toxins from your body. Fresh fruits and vegetables will help add fiber to your diet, and they act as natural antibiotics that will help prevent blemishes.
Place a small amount of pure honey in a bowl. Place it in the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds until it becomes warm. Apply the honey to your skin, and allow it to sit for 15 minutes. Remove the honey with a washcloth with cold water. The honey acts as a natural antibacterial cleanser to treat blemishes.
Combine 1 cup of lemon juice with 1 tsp. of sugar. Apply the mixture to your skin blemishes, and allow it to set for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the mixture from your skin with warm water. The lemon and sugar help to remove dark spots and lighten blemishes.
Use strawberries to exfoliate your skin naturally. Smash 3 to 4 strawberries in a bowl with a fork. Add 2 tsp. of vinegar to the strawberries, and mix until a paste forms. Apply this paste to your blemishes and allow it to dry overnight. Remove the paste from your face in the morning.
Apply an ice cube to your blemishes. Wrap the ice cube in a washcloth to make it easier to hold it against your face. Hold it over the blemish for five to 10 minutes to help reduce redness and swelling.
