Why Do People Get Married in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is known as the marriage capital of the world. According to county records, since 1995, more than 100,000 marriage licenses have been issued each year in Clark County, the county in which Las Vegas is located.

Las Vegas weddings are quick, cheap and easy. A marriage license costs about $50 and can be obtained without a blood test and with no waiting period. In addition, there are many wedding chapels in Vegas that provide everything from the bride’s bouquet to the officiant to the required witness for one low fee.

While it is easy to wed in Vegas, a divorce or annulment will set you back at least $925 if you qualify for an uncontested annulment, and take about two weeks to process.

A marriage license issued by Clark County is required for any couple looking to wed in Las Vegas. Both parties must be present to obtain a marriage license. The Las Vegas Downtown Office Marriage Bureau is open daily (including holidays) from 8 a.m. to midnight.

Marriages that happen in Vegas do not stay in Vegas. A Las Vegas marriage—whether you wed in a hotel ballroom or in a drive-thru ceremony—is valid in all 50 states.
