Knowing the right way to cook rice means the difference between having a good dinner and a great dinner. Cooking on the stove top, using rice cookers and using a stove top rice cooker are a few ways to prepare rice. Stove top rice cookers are not as common as they were 40 years ago, but cooking rice in them today is just as good and easy as it was to do back in the day.

Fill the external pot with water up to the fill line that is marked on the interior.

Add rice to the internal pot. Add 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cup of water, 1 tsp of salt and 1 tbsp. of butter.

Place the internal pot into the external pot and put on the lid.

Turn the burner on high until the water boils. Turn it down to low for about 15 minutes.

Stir the rice once or twice during the cooking process.
