How to Remake T-Shirts

There are seemingly endless different ways to remake a t-shirt. Personal taste, function and level of intricacy will vary according to your own style, but the following guide is a starting point in how to turn a regular t-shirt into a piece that is wearable, fashionable and personalized.

Cut across the collar from one shoulder seam to the other to create a boatneck. Use sharp scissors to make sure the cut is clean and avoid fraying.

Cut a three-inch slit into the bottom on one side. If there is a side hem, cut it out from the slitted portion.

Tie the two resulting pieces into a double knot.

Add a graphic or photo to the front or back of the t-shirt using iron-on transfer paper. Follow the instructions included with the paper to ensure proper image transfer and to avoid burning.
