How to Get Rid of Acne Spots on Your Back

by Dana Severson

We've all experienced a certain amount of acne in our lives, be it the occasional pimple or the serious outbreak. They almost always seem to happen at the most inopportune times, and, no matter who you are, you just want them to clear up as soon as possible. So, we take every effort to rid ourselves of these blemishes. Back acne is really no different than any other acne on our body. Ultimately, we can use basic techniques to get rid of these trouble spots.

Items you will need

  • Anti-bacterial cleanser
  • Exfoliant
  • Benzoyl-peroxide cream
  • Alpha hydroxy lotion
  • Water
  • Well-balance diet
Step 1

Switch from bar soap to an anti-bacterial cleanser. Many times, bar soap will just irritate and exacerbate back acne. It's fine to use on other occasions, but not during a breakout. Actually, start using a cleanser that is formulated for your face. They're much gentler.

Step 2

Rinse off thoroughly. This is another essential measure to take when trying to clear up back acne. When you leave soap residue on your body, it can clog your pores and potentially lengthen the time of an outbreak.

Step 3

Start exfoliating. Skin is skin, and exfoliating can really help rid it of the dead flakes and even expedite the "cure" of your breakout.

Step 4

Use a benzoyl-peroxide cream on your breakout areas. Though most people believe this type of cream is only for their face, it will work just the same on a person's back. You may need to enlist the help of a spouse or family member to reach each spot.

Step 5

Invest in an alpha hydroxy lotion. Most people use alpha hydroxy on their face, just like benzoyl-peroxide creams, lotion can help clear up acne, both on your face and body.

Step 6

Drink lots of water. Though this won't necessarily help you get rid of back acne, it will keep your skin healthy, which can lessen a return of those blemishes.

Step 7

Begin eating a low-fat, well-balanced diet. Much like water, your diet won't really get rid of the acne, but it can accelerate a clear-up and keep that acne at bay later on.

Tips

  • Shower each day especially when we're currently experiencing an outbreak. If you exercise, make sure to shower after your workout. Toxins are inevitably released while we sweat. Letting them just sit on our skin only serves to clog our pores. If you moisturize your skin, start using an oil-free product. This will help to keep the pores clear.
