Your own kitchen can be a great resource for make-it-yourself skin care products, including skin lighteners. There are several conditions that might prompt you to lighten your skin. You may have uneven skin tone, acne scars or you may want to lighten the overall tone and complexion. Whatever the reason may be, you can make a whitening facial mask at home with readily available natural ingredients.
Combine 2 tablespoons each of lemon juice and honey in a bowl, and then mix with the spoon. The citric acid in natural lemon juice removes dead skin cells on the skin’s surface and is also a whitening agent. Honey will infuse moisture and other nutrients into your skin. Stir in 1 tablespoon of plain cultured yogurt to minimize the acidity and help give your skin a cool, soothing affect.
Use your fingers or a soft paintbrush to apply the mixture across your face. Avoid getting the mixture in your eyes, since the lemon will sting.
Let the mask sit on your skin for 10 minutes.
Soak a soft cloth with warm water, and gently wipe the mask off of your face. Rinse your face with warm water and pat it dry.
Use this facial for no more than 30 days.
