False eyelashes. Eyelash extensions. Eyelash dye. Mascara. Obviously eyelashes are an extremely lucrative market with even a prescription-drug aid now available. And if you’re like most women, you want to make your eyelashes as long, thick and dark as possible. Fortunately, there are a number of home remedies for eyelash growth without breaking the bank.
Eyelashes are the fine hairs attached to the end of your eyelid. Like hair on the rest of your body, eyelashes fall out all the time and go through a normal life cycle from dormancy to growth to death, completing the cycle approximately every three months. So nutrition from the inside and moisture from the outside are important for eyelash regrowth.
Your diet is extremely important in keeping healthy skin and hair, including eyelashes. Make sure that your diet includes vitamins such as vitamin B6, amino acids, beta carotene and minerals such as magnesium and zinc, and increase your intake of foods rich in vitamin E and green, leafy vegetables. Prenatal vitamins possess all the vitamins necessary for healthy hair growth and will help eyelashes grow faster and healthier.
Moisturize from the inside out, meaning, consume foods rich in good oils, such as walnuts, almonds and avocados, to help improve eyelashes. And drink at least eight glasses of water every day will help keep your body hydrated and will flush out toxins and try to stay away from soda and caffeinated drinks.
Fast Eyelash Growth
Applying Vaseline or vitamin E to the eyelash base regularly can help the eyelashes grow. Apply daily with a Q-tip before going to bed. Spread evenly over the lashes, and wash off after three to four minutes or go to bed with the product on. You should see results within two weeks. This is a beauty trick used by Norwegians for years.
Pure olive oil is also said to help eyelashes grow fast. It has been reported by some women that after a month or two of using olive oil on the eyelashes, the eyelashes are conditioned and show improved health and appearances.
Some women swear by emu oil and castor oil. It has been reported that castor oil can stimulate the regrowth of lashes that have fallen out because of illness and some women report that emu oil can not only stimulate longer, thicker growth but conditions lashes as well.
It is important to keep eye safety in mind. Keep your applicator clean and in a sterile environment, and be extremely careful not to get products in eye. If a product gets in your eye, be sure to rinse gently with warm water. If you use your hands to apply product, be sure that they are clean so as to avoid any sort of eye infection.
