Hand Cream for Wrinkles

Hands are one of the first areas of the body to display the signs of aging. Constant exposure to the sun and drying activities like hand-washing contribute to wrinkles and deepen fine lines over time. The most convenient way to combat wrinkles on your hands is with hand cream. Hand creams containing anti-aging ingredients can be smoothed on through the day and overnight as an intensive treatment. Add a hand cream to your bedside table and handbag to treat wrinkles.

Prepare your skin to fully absorb hand cream with a scrub. Exfoliating scrubs slough away dead skin to immediately soften hands and allow the moisture to go deeper than just the top layer of skin. Massage a quarter-sized amount of fine-grained scrub into your hands for two minutes. Rinse with warm water instead of hot to remove residue without drying out your skin.

Daytime Use

Apply hand cream throughout the day to protect your skin from the sun and drying elements. Use a product with a balm consistency for its nongreasy finish. It should contain a minimum of SPF 15, as UV rays are one of the primary causes of wrinkles. Avoid active ingredients such as retinal throughout the day, which irritate skin when exposed to sun. Reapply after every hand wash.

Nighttime Application

Reach for a reparative hand cream at night to soften skin and plump fine lines. Massage a glycerin-based serum into your hands to help your hands to retain moisture. Follow up with a retinol hand cream to deeply treat wrinkles. Coat your hands completely and pull on a pair of cotton gloves to lock in moisture. Alternate with an alpha hydroxy acid hand cream to exfoliate dry skin.

Make changes to your daily routine to prolong the effects of your hand cream. Use a shower puff or mitt when using shower gel and massage shampoo into your scalp with your fingertips only. Use a moisturizing, sulfate-free hand cleanser and cleanse with warm water for under two minutes. Wear gloves when you're outside in cold weather or driving to protect your hands from the sun and wind.
