Bananas are a tasty source of potassium, vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals, and are used in everything from pies to puddings to daiquiris. These delicious tropical fruits are typically available in stores year round and can also be used to make a mask that leaves hair shiny, moisturized and sweet smelling. To pamper yourself with this do-it-yourself beauty treatment, use well-ripened bananas for the best results.

Wash your hair with shampoo as usual. Rinse and towel dry.

Peel a banana and mash it in a bowl with a fork. Add 2 teaspoon honey and mix well with the spoon. You may also add yogurt, avocado or wheat germ oil if you like.

Smooth the banana and honey mixture all over your hair. It will be gooey and messy. Wear a plastic cape or nothing at all to protect your clothes from the drippy goo.

Cover your hair with the plastic shower cap. A disposable cap is ideal for this job. If you don't have a shower cap you can wrap your head in plastic wrap.

Wrap a towel around your head and relax for 10 minutes.

Remove the towel and the shower cap or plastic wrap. Discard the plastic. Rinse your hair well. Dry and style your hair as usual.
