Natural Ways to Prevent Body Hair Growth

by Elizabeth Chaplin

Unwanted body and facial hair is uncomfortable and embarrassing. There are several different solutions for body hair removal, including laser hair removal, depilatories and electrolysis. However, there are a few natural solutions that you can try at home to remove and prevent embarrassing body or facial hair.

Sugar Waxing

You can create your own waxing kit at home with a few household items. Find an old 100 percent cotton T-shirt and cut it into 1-inch wide strips. You will also need sugar and lemon juice.

Mix 2 cups of sugar, ¼ cup of lemon juice and ¼ cup of water and mix them together. Heat the mixture on the stove at medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a boil or until the consistency is smooth and the sugar has been dissolved. Let this mix cool until it is comfortable to touch with your fingers.

Before applying the wax, it is important that your skin is clean and free of any oils. You can absorb oils by brushing your skin with corn starch or baby powder. When applying the wax, it’s best to use a large spoon or a frosting spreader to avoid excessive mess on your hands. Spread the sugar wax on your skin in the direction the hair is growing, and then press one of the cotton strips on top of the wax. The mixture will eventually begin to harden. Hold the bottom of the cotton strip (that is, the end that is closest to your feet) and pull in a quick, upward motion. You may have to repeat this a couple of times. It can become time consuming, but it’s a great all-natural wax that can be stored in the refrigerator and used again and again.

Other Solutions

There are a number of other solutions that can help remove and prevent unwanted body hair. You can eradicate unwanted leg hair by spreading a mixture of white pepper, camphor and a couple drops of kerosene on your skin and leaving it for up to fifteen minutes. For embarrassing facial hair, try mixing sugar and lemon juice together until you have a thick paste. Apply this paste to your face and leave it on for about fifteen minutes, and then rinse it off with water. You can also create a facial mask with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 4 teaspoons honey. This mixture should be left on your face for at least 15 minutes and applied twice a week. Both of these facial masks can be used on other parts of the body to prevent hair growth. Another solution for hair removal and prevention is using a daily facial paste made of one egg white, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 tablespoon corn flour. This sticky mask will dry about 10 minutes after application, and then is peeled off.
