Eco Drive watches from Citizens are unlike most other types of watches. Unlike the majority of other watches, these watches run primarily on power produced by sun exposure. Due to this brilliant concept, an Eco Drive watch does not require a new battery when it stops functioning, just a full recharge.

Clean the watch face. This will remove any dirt or smudge marks, which can block the watch from achieving full exposure from the sun.

Set the watch on a flat surface directly inside a sun-exposed window. Make sure the window is exposed to sunlight for multiple hours in a day.

Allow watch to sit watch-face up in the sun-exposed spot for 48 to 72 hours. You will see the watch begin to move after this time.

Reset the watch by pulling out the large wind notch. Twist the notch until the watch displays the correct time, and push the notch back into the watch. The battery is now fully charged.
