If you like the look of distressed jeans, you can create artificial whiskers without waiting months or years for your new jeans to achieve a weathered look naturally. You can make faded and creased lines in your denim, in less than 30 minutes, with supplies that you may already have around the house.

Put on the jeans that you’re planning to distress and sit down in a chair so that you can clearly see where the jeans naturally wrinkle in the upper thigh area. This is where your whiskers will show up.

Wrap a sheet of sandpaper around the edge of a small block of wood. If you don’t have any wood, a deck of cards will do the trick just as well. Secure the sandpaper with tape to ensure that it won’t slip off the block while you’re sanding.

Rub the sandpaper over the natural creases and wrinkles of your jeans. The wrinkled areas will begin to lighten as the sandpaper distresses them.
