Neckties are fashion staples for men. They are often worn to work, on job interviews or for other occasions such as weddings or funerals. Some jobs even require women to wear a tie. Many men and women, though, do not actually know how to tie a tie. They may shy away from wearing them or applying for jobs that require them because of this. Tying a tie is not as hard as it looks. Step-by-step instructions make it easier.
Place the tie around the back of your neck, with the ends hanging down across your chest. Adjust the tie so that the wide end is hanging about a foot longer than the thinner end.
Wrap the wide end of the tie around the narrow end. The wide end of the tie should be back on the side where it started. Wrap it around the narrow end again, but instead of taking it all the way around, bring the wide end up through the back.
Hold the loop that is now in the front of the tie loose with your finger. Thread the wide end of the tie through the loop.
Tighten the knot.
