Silk wraps are pieces of silk material glued to brittle, cracked or chipped nails to enhance nail strength, protect nails and nail beds while the nails grow and provide a non-damaged surface to apply nail polish. Application of a silk wrap is far more difficult than its removal. Here is the easiest way to safely remove your silk wraps.
Pour the acetone-based nail polish remover or acetone into your bowl.
Soak your silk wrapped fingernail(s) in the bowl for approximately 2 minutes.
Dip a cotton ball into the acetone and then gently wipe it across the silk wrap. If the silk wrap does not immediately come off, soak your fingernail(s) for another 2 to 3 minutes and repeat. Continue repeating until the wrap wipes away.
Wash your hands in warm, soapy water, rinse and then wipe with a towel.
Heavily moisturize your fingertip(s), cuticle and surrounding nail area as acetone is a solvent that can damage skin by dissolving tissue fat.
