Dress shoes can be expensive, and you don't wear them very often. If you are constantly finding black scuff marks that mar their shine, try a few methods to remove the unsightly marks. While you may not be able to remove the marks completely, you can minimize them and avoid having to purchase new shoes. If you are using a polish or leather conditioner, test it on an unobtrusive spot first.
Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the shoes. Rub against the scuff marks to remove as much of the mark as possible.
Take an artist's eraser and gently buff off the marks using a circular motion. Don't press too hard to avoid marking the surface.
Use matching shoe polish to cover the scuffed area. Buff in a circular motion with a lint-free cloth. Let rest for five minutes. Buff off any excess with the cloth.
Use leather conditioner to treat any smaller scuff marks. Use a lint-free cloth to dab the conditioner on and gently rub in.
