Suede is a textured leather that is often used to make boots, bags and other clothing items. Suede is softer and more pliable than other kinds of leathers, however it also has a tendency to stain. Avoid getting suede boots wet, especially in winter climates, where they may acquire salt stains. If your suede boots acquire stains or scuff marks and you have trouble getting them off by yourself, take the boots to a professional cleaner.
Remove any clumps of dirt with a clean cloth. If the suede is wet, blot it with a paper towel and allow it to dry. Once they are dry, rub the scuff marks gently with a clean pencil eraser.
Rub away any remaining scuff marks with a nail file or a stiff, clean toothbrush. Use gentle strokes to lift the marks.
Brush the suede leather with a suede brush to restore the texture, also called the nap.
Spray your suede boots with a non-silicone finishing spray to prevent further staining.
