While some men enjoy having a mustache that would make Magnum P.I. jealous, most women would rather hide their mustaches, which is why you should make a mustache less noticeable without shaving. Shaving a mustache exposes the roots, causing the mustache to look thicker and more noticeable. The roots of the hair are thicker and darker compared to the rest of the hair. Bleaching, plucking and waxing are some alternatives to make your mustache less noticeable.
Bleach the mustache, using facial hair bleach. Mix the bleach mixture with the activator mixture. Apply the bleach according to the manufacturer’s directions. Bleaching the mustache does not get rid of the facial hair, but it lightens the facial hair to make it less noticeable. Test the mixture on a small portion of your skin to make sure that you are not allergic to the mixture before applying to your mustache.
Pluck random hairs, using tweezers. Squeeze the ends of the facial hair and pull the hairs away from the face in a short, quick stroke. This method is effective for a few facial hairs.
Wax the hair to remove the mustache. Waxing is the process of applying hot wax to the mustache. The wax hardens and sticks to a strip of paper. The paper and wax are pulled away from the face, removing the facial hair. Waxing lasts for approximately six weeks before the procedure has to be done again. Waxing is a temporary solution. Apply depilatory creams or lotions to the mustache. Depilatory liquids remove the roots from the skin. Apply the cream and wipe it off, along with the mustache. Depilatory liquids tend to be harsh on skin and cause skin irritation to people with sensitive skin. Apply a small amount of depilatory cream to a hidden area on your face. Test to see if your skin reacts to the cream before applying it to your face.
Consult a doctor for electrolysis treatment. Electrolysis treatment is a permanent solution that uses electricity to remove the facial hairs. A small needle is inserted into the hair follicle and electricity is applied to kill the hair. The hair must be in the growing phase. Several treatments might be necessary to remove all facial hair.
