A sweet glaze balances the salty flavor of a ham. A honey glaze with pineapple garnish works with any type of ham. Most hams are precooked, meaning you simply need to bake it long enough to heat it through to the middle. Use a meat thermometer to determine when the middle of the ham reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. Adjust the flavorings in the honey glaze based on personal preference.

Place the cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger, honey, brown sugar, orange juice and mustard in a saucepan. Stir the glaze and heat it on medium for three to five minutes. Strain the chunks from the glaze by pouring it through a sieve and catching the liquid in a bowl.

Cut the carrots and celery into 2-inch chunks and place them in the bottom of the roasting pan. Cut the onion and orange into wedges. Add them to the roasting pan.

Place the ham on top of the vegetables in the roasting pan. Drizzle the honey glaze over the ham, using a cooking brush to cover the ham evenly.

Bake the ham at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour. Lay the pineapple slices on the ham, holding them in place with toothpicks. Place a maraschino cherry inside each pineapple ring and secure with another toothpick.

Drizzle and brush additional glaze over the ham and pineapple slices. Return the ham to the oven for another 30 minutes. Remove ham from the oven when it reaches an internal temperature of 140 F and has browned on the outside.

Spoon the pan juices over the ham. Allow the meat rest for 10 to 15 minutes before carving it into slices.
