Juice Plus Vs. Metagenics

by Dr. Johnson Chiro

In this fast-paced world, it is often difficult to know if you are consuming a balanced and healthy diet. The "empty calories" consumed in fast food and processed food choices play havoc on nutrition. Due to this, many people turn to supplements to fill the gap left by a poor diet and unhealthy lifestyle. Juice Plus and Metagenics are two companies that supply products to help people live healthier lives.

Juice Plus Advantages

Juice Plus is a product offered to help to fulfill the nutrition you need from fruits and vegetables that are not consumed by most people on a daily basis. This product contains juice powders from 17 fruits, vegetables, and grains. According to JuicePlus.com, the products are made from high-quality fruits and vegetables and are carefully tested to ensure that no contaminants or pesticides are in the products. Their products can be ordered online through the company website.

Juice Plus Disadvantages

One of the disadvantages to Juice Plus is that company offers only a few product choices. According to JuicePlus.com, there is an Orchard and Garden Blend, Vineyard Blend, and a Juice Plus Complete. The Orchard and Garden Blend and the Vineyard Blend are available in capsule or chewable forms and are only fruits, vegetables, and grains. The Juice Plus Complete is a whole-food based beverage that can be used as a meal replacement or snack. It comes in chocolate or vanilla. When ordering on the website, the price listed is a monthly charge and you will automatically be signed up for a four month supply. The prices range from $22.75 for a child dosage to $44.75 for an adult dosage.

Metagenics Advantages

Metagenics is a supplement company that offers natural ways to help with common health issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes or fighting the common cold. According to Metagenics.com, the company offers science-based lifestyle programs. This company has a very large catalog. It offers products that include a specific vitamin, a mix of vitamins and herbs for treatment of specific ailments, probiotics for intestinal health, to medical foods. All of the products must be ordered through a registered physician and the company has a link on its website to make finding one easier.

Metagenics Disadvantages

Metagenics disadvantages include the size and extensive information in its catalog. The catalog is very large and can be overwhelming. This is one reason that a patient must visit a registered physician in order to get any of these products.

Comparison of Juice Plus and Metagenics

While no supplement or whole food product should be a replacement for a healthy diet and living, Juice Plus and Metagenics offer two distinctively different products. These companies have done extensive research and both Juice Plus and Metagenics websites contain scientific and research articles that support the quality and efficacy of their products. These companies operate using Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMPs. This ensures that the products are safe and effective. Supplements companies are not required by law to abide by GMPs. It is an extra step that Juice Plus and Metagenics go to so that they can supply quality products to consumers.
