Facial creams can help with various skin conditions, from basic moisturizing to the rejuvenation of skin cells for fewer wrinkles and similar signs of aging. Unfortunately, there are many unproven, ineffective or skin-irritating substances in some skin creams, warns skincare expert Paula Begoun. For the best results, choose a skincare cream that's been recommended by a dermatologist.

L'Oréal Paris Advanced Revitalift Face & Neck

As you age, your skin may begin to sag due to lower levels of elastin and collagen. L'Oreal's anti-aging cream is designed to help by firming and tightening the skin surface. "InStyle" magazine praised it, calling it the best anti-wrinkle cream for dry skin. Dr. Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, a dermatologist reviewing the cream for the magazine, loved its effective use of anti-wrinkling retinol.

Osmotics Kinetin Intensive Eye Repair

The editors of "Shape" magazine surveyed beauty editors, dermatologists and makeup artists to find some of the best skincare creams. Osmotics' eye cream ranked as one of the best treatments for the eye area. "Shape" said dermatologists and other experts liked its use of kinetin, which helps correct skin blotchiness and wrinkles related to aging and sun exposure.

Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream

Dr. Michele Green, a New York dermatologist writing for "InStyle" magazine, loved Clinique's anti-redness facial cream. It helps reduce the characteristic flushing related to skin irritation and conditions like rosacea. The magazine picked it as the best topical rosacea treatment on the market, calling it a "best beauty buy." Its soothing effects come from its use of resveratrol extract, reports Green, who says it functions well as an anti-inflammatory agent. It also contains standard emollients to hydrate your skin.

Caudalie Grapeseed Eye Contour Cream

Grapeseed is naturally high in antioxidants. Topical use of antioxidants can help rejuvenate your skin and protect against new skin damage, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. "Shape" magazine, after consulting dermatologists and other skincare experts, picked Caudalie's grapeseed-enhanced eye cream as a "dream cream" that works best for fighting fine lines and puffiness. It also uses skin-firming emollients to hydrate your delicate eye region.
