Every year state fairs bring a wealth of thrilling rides, challenging games, and fun for all ages. And, of course, there's the food. In fact, each year brings a new lineup of creative fair cuisine unlike anything you can find at your neighborhood restaurant. This year is no exception, with seven new edible inventions making their debuts at state fairs around the country.

Deep Fried Breakfast on a Stick

Start your day at the Minnesota State Fair with a portable breakfast by The Sandwich Shop. This unique breakfast sandwich includes American and Swiss cheeses, a sausage patty, one egg, and Canadian bacon enveloped between two pancakes, all of which is dipped in a sweet batter and deep fried. It gives a whole new meaning to "breakfast on the go."

Sloppy Donut

If you're looking for more of a brunch treat at the state fair, consider a sloppy donut from Dickerson & Kenna at the Ohio State Fair. Actually more of a sandwich, this donut comes piled with barbecue pulled pork, deep-fried pickle chips, bacon and cheese. It's a sweet twist on the traditional barbecue sandwich.

Cream Cheese with Larvettes

For the adventurous eater in the group, Mickey Shanks has created an uncommon snack for this year's Ohio State Fair. This unique, um, food is a battered and deep-fried blend of insect larvae and cream cheese. If you like caviar and escargot, this may be just the fair food for you.

Python Spring Roll

Another rare state fair delicacy making its debut at the Wisconsin State Fair is the Python Spring Roll by Exotic Meat Grill. This wild find is the real deal, served up with a tangy sweet and sour sauce. Give it a try, and see if it strikes your fancy.

Caprese Salad on a Stick

Although many people think you can't eat healthy at the state fair, the Salad Bowl at the Iowa State Fair aims to prove you can. With its caprese salad on a stick, you get a skewer of cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinaigrette to savor as you stroll the fairgrounds. This could go a long way in keeping you from busting your diet.

A tried-and-true summertime favorite, the Klondike Bar is taken to the next level by Nana's Delicacies at the Kansas State Fair. Battered and deep fried, this ice cream sandwich is sure to have you coming back for more.

Creamy peanut butter dipped in chocolate already ranks high as a favorite sweet for many people.
