Stubble is a widely used term given to describe body hair that's recently grown back after shaving. Both men and women experience this regrowth of hair on commonly shaved places like the face, armpits and legs. When hair grows back (hair growth rates differ from person to person) stubble can feel coarse and prickly, and can affect a person's appearance. These tips will help you safely remove unwanted stubble and leave your skin feeling smooth and clean.
Wet your skin with warm water before shaving. This will help soften your stubble and make it easier to achieve a close shave.
Apply a moisturizing shaving cream to protect your skin against nicks and cuts. Generously apply shaving cream to damp skin.
Use a sharp razor to shave in the direction of hair growth, not against it. The Mayo Clinic recommends this method to prevent cuts and burns from shaving.
Rinse your blade in warm water after each stroke. This will keep your blade clean and make it easier for you to remove stubble.
Rinse away all shaving cream residue and pat your skin dry. Blot your skin (don't scrub your skin) dry so your skin can retain some of the moisture from the water.
Apply a moisturizing lotion or cream to the area. Find a moisturizer that fits your skin type and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated.
