Preservation of your wedding dress can be a simple task to preform. If preserved correctly, most wedding dresses will fail to incur stains on the fabric. For those select few dresses, coppery looking stains may appear. In order to remove those stains as well as other stains that were obtained during the big day, try some of the following suggestions to make your dress look brand new.
Clear an area where you will have plenty of room to work with your dress. Make sure that you can lay it down in an unsoiled area.
Determine what type of fabric your dress is made out of. Some cleaners are best suited for one particular type of fabric, so it is important to make sure that you use the correct cleaners on your dress.
Blot areas with a white cotton towel if soiled areas are still wet. Try to remove as much moisture as possible. If moisture persists, use baby powder to remove excess moisture. Brush off when dry.
Use an oxygen-based cleaner for dresses made out of polyester type fabrics.
Mix a scoop of cleaner in with enough warm water to fill a small to medium spray bottle.
Spray soiled areas with cleaner and water.
Let cleaner sit for the recommended amount of time stated on the packaging.
Rinse with warm water and hang.
Use Dryel for silk or other delicate fabric dresses.
Rub Dryel stain remover into soiled area. Make sure to use the absorbant pad underneath the stain. Work the cleaner in and let dry.
