Nickel toe caps are used on cowboy and other Western-style boots as a way to decorate and protect the footwear. Also known as rands, toe caps are usually installed at the factory as the soles are assembled. However, it's not overly difficult to install them on your own boots to hide scuffs or just dress them up.
Select a nickel toe cap that matches the contour of your boots' toes.
Center the cap over the toe. If it's the right shape, the cap will stay centered where it should. Ensure the base of the cap rests on the sole.
Tap the brads through the holes in the tabs, directly into the sole. Alternately, drive the small screws in through the tabs.
