Comfortable, faded, well-worn jeans are always in style, and they pair well with almost anything in your closet. Fading your jeans fast can be achieved with a few products and a little time in the laundry room. Instead of waiting around for the perfectly worn-in, faded denim that can take years to achieve its patina, there are few ways to get the faded look in a fraction of the time.
Immerse your jeans in a full washer tub with a quart of bleach. Soak the jeans for 20 to 30 minutes and then rinse. Repeat the cycle for a more faded look.
Soak the jeans in a tub filled with water and dye remover. Follow the instructions on the package because each brand's instructions vary. The dye remover allows you to achieve a faded look and is less damaging to the fabric than bleach.
Mix 2 cups of salt with 2 gallons of water in a 5-gallon bucket. Immerse your jeans in the mixture and soak for two days. Remove the jeans from the saltwater and proceed to sand with sandpaper, then launder in a regular wash cycle.
