Bleaching your white clothes will keep them bright and stain free, but you have to be cautious. Read the handling instructions on your garments to see if they can be thrown in the washer. If the instructions call for hand washing it is best to bleach your clothes in the sink to avoid damage. Be wary when using bleach on colored garments, as it can create spots. Use a color safe bleach to avoid ruining your clothes.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands from bleach.

Check the handling instructions on your shirt's tag to find out whether you should wash in hot or cold water.

Rinse your garment under running water to remove any loose soil.

Mix 1 gallon of water with 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach in the sink.

Soak the shirt for five minutes and then drain the sink.

Rinse the shirt under cool water and hang to dry.
