When your feet are exposed to snow and extremely cold temperatures, a pair of well-constructed snow boots is in order. Many boots, such as those manufactured by Sorel, include boot liners that offer warmth and comfort for your feet. Like your boots themselves, the liners require some special care so they don't develop odors through regular use. Recycled felt liners are washable, but use only spot-cleaning methods for Sorel ThermoPlus boot liners.
Dry Them Out
Remove the liners from your boots when they become damp or wet.
Place the liners in a well-ventilated area to dry out for 12 to 24 hours. Keep them away from extreme, direct heat.
Replace the liners in your boots when they are completely dry.
Clean the Liners
Fill a sink basin or other large container with cool water. Add a 1/4 teaspoon of mild liquid detergent to the water and agitate it with your hands to create bubbles.
Place the felt boot liners into the soap and water, and swirl them around in the water with your hands for about a minute. Allow the liners to soak in the soapy water for 10 minutes.
Remove the boot liners from the water and place then on a bath towel. Drain the basin or pour the water out of the large container into a sink. Replace the drained water with plain, cool water.
Place the boot liners back into the water and swirl them around with your hands to rinse for two to three minutes.
Remove the liners from the water and place them on a bath towel. Roll the bath towel up into a cylinder shape with the liners inside of the towel. Press down on the bath towel with both hands to remove excess water from the liners.
Remove the liners from the bath towel and place them in a well-ventilated area, away from extreme or direct heat, to dry for 12 to 24 hours before replacing them in your boots.
